finally, bibimbab!

Ccozi & Friends, July 16.
I had always wanted to try Bibimbab. This started when I browsed pictures of bibimbab online for the first time. And after seeing the bright colors of that Korean traditional meal, I became more and more curiuos about it. And finally boyfriend asked me to go to a Korean restaurant in Gandaria City, Ccozi & Friends for a dinner date. I ordered calamari bibimbab and my boyfriend ordered beef curry ramen. I don't really like the smell of the calamari bibimbab though. I think it was the spices' smell. Because of its unusual smell, I thought the taste would be so weird. But I was wrong, it tasted good. My boyfriend said it tasted like nasi pecel (rice with mixed vegetable with peanut sauce). The ramen served in hot bowl and it smelled, contrary to the bibimbab, really good. The kimchi was good too, by the way. All in all, I don't think I really like Korean food, I just can't stand the smell.

bad bad bad service

Decanter, July 15.
On Friday, my friends and I had a lunch at Decanter in Plaza Kuningan. The place is really nice. The interior design, dominated with wood furniture and brown color, shows a soothing and comfortable ambience. Since it is a wine house, no wonder there were so many expatriates enjoyed eating there. However, we were very dissapointed with the service. They made us waiting for an hour just to get our order served. And it is not like we order fancy meal whatsoever. We just ordered pasta, soup and sandwich. I lost my appetite already by the time the waitress brought out our meal. And I did not take too many pictures there too.

Billie Chick, July 9.
I was planning to take my boyfriend to Sushi Tei to try its super tasty Wakame Salad. However, as it was Saturday night, we could not get a table immediately, in other words, the waitress had to put our name on the waiting list. Because we did not want to wait just to spend our money, we decided to have a dinner somewhere else. And so we went to Billie Chick. My boyfriend ordered Tom Yum soup, he said he became tom-yum addict ever since he tried it. The tom yum smelled really good, and it was yummy too. Meanwhile, I ordered tuna sandwich. I like the french fries a lot. Overall, we enjoyed eating at Billie Chick.

Ichiban Sushi, July 8.
Ichiban Sushi is one of not-so-many restaurants  that I often visit (frankly speaking). I always love eating in Ichiban Sushi. And there is this new Ichiban Sushi outlet. I was so eager to eat there. So, on July 18, I asked my boyfriend to have a dinner after work in Ichiban Sushi. He agreed. The outlet is nice as the ambience is so Japanese. The service is okay. However, the food was not okay. I ordered my favorite sushi, Special O'Day. I don't know why but it did not taste as delicious as the ones I usually order in other Ichiban Suhi outlets. I also ordered Okonomiyaki. I never ordered Ichiban's okonomiyaki before, so I don't really know how does it usually taste in other Ichiban outlets, but one thing for sure is the one I ordered did not taste good. It used too many flour and the topping was not so tasty. The beef curry udon ordered by my boyriend tasted okay though (yet not as delicious as its smell). Lastly, I ordered Chawanmushi, also one of my favorite dishes. But this one failed me. Uh, I was so disappointed eating there. Promise myself, I would never eat in that Ichiban outlet ever again.

they look good, though

it all comes naturally

On July 02, me and my boyfriend went out just like most other couples out there. Due to the fact that there are not many places for dating/hanging out in Jakarta except mall, mall and mall, sometimes I can help thinking that dating could be so effing boring. I mean, people do the same routine every week. They go out, eat or see a movie. Over and over again. Don't they get bored? Because I already feel a bit bored with our routine. I always want to hang out somewhere other than malls or restaurants, and he feels the same too. For me, go to a museum or go for a picnic in a park are much more fun than simply go to the mall. Don't you think so?

However, on that particular night, I realized something. After we had a dinner, me and my boyfriend decided to go to this particular place we always make fun about for it is always filled by those labile adolescents. So, we went there, bought two glasses of its distinctive beverages and talked. This is how it went. We began talking about random things and ended up having a meaningful conversation. I don't really know what happened in between. As I am writing this post, I realize that this is how our conversation usually goes even when we were still just friends. He also once told me that he really likes talking to me. I remember the first time we hanged out. We went to the cinema to watch "Shrek 3". As we were waiting for the movie to start, we talked. And we stopped talking when we realized that "the movie should already be played by now". And so we missed the first 30 minutes of the movie. And we always laugh every time we remember that moment.

Maybe I'm being way too naive by saying this, but that night I realized that it doesn't really matter where you spend your date night, what really matters is the one you're with and how you spend it with him/her. And a nice talk with the special one beats everything.

he's the tall one, like literally, in real life too.
