I know that we should neatly have a dinner in this particular order: appetizers, main courses and desserts. But, that is not how I rolled when I had a dinner in Satoo, Shangri-La Hotel. It is not necessarily because of the abundant choices offered by the buffet. It is simply because the desserts were all tempting. Those tiny little chocolate cakes and a mouth-watering chocolate fountain were just hard to ignore. And the desserts I ate were all yummy. After satisfying my sweet-tooth desire, I began to eat the main courses. Considering the menus offered, I think the price of IDR 273,000 per person (including tax and drink) is really worth it. The menus offered include Indonesian, Malaysian, Indian, Chinese, Japanese and Western Europe cuisines. And they were all tasty and fresh. I tried the sushi and it was good. I also tried the salmon sashimi which was super fresh yet a bit salty. My favorites ones were roti prata (Indian paratha bread) and this particular seafood which is a type of oysters. I ate the latest with a bit of lemon juice. And voila... I had a foodgasm in my mouth. Such a bliss. Another thing that really excited me was the jamu (herbal medicine) stall completed with the mbok jamu (usually aged-yet-looked-freshly-young Indonesian women dressed in traditional clothes selling jamu). I actually really wanted to try all the food, but there was no empty space in my stomach anymore after I ate 2 plates of various main courses. And oh I forget to mention, all the waitresses and chefs were nice and very helpful.
tiramisu & chocolate macaroon
mango mousse & egg tart
salmon sashimi & fried salmon skin
fish fingers & roti prata
boiled prawns & my favorite of the day
