asinan betawi ibu yenni

bakmi djawa

I have been craving for bakmi djawa (javanese noodle) since last month. My favorite one was the one served in Sagoo Kitchen. I have not got the chance to go there. But yesterday my craving was satisfied when boyfriend and I stopped by in a small food stall (more like a food hawker) during our way back home. It was my boyfriend who noticed the stall's name Bakmi Djawa Pak Ikhsan and asked me whether I was still craving for bakmi djawa. And since I was craving for it, so we had our super early dinner (at 6 pm) there. The stall is pretty small and clean. When I saw the menu, I noticed that they only serve 4 kinds of food, namely noodles (served in a gravy or fried), vermicelli, satay and fried rice. So, their bakmi djawa must be good, I thought. And I was right. It did not take much time to cook the bakmi godok which is the name for the noodle soup that consists of noodle, egg, chicken, otak-otak (fish cakes) tomato and cabbage. The bakmi godok really tasty, especially the gravy. I really love the noodles which is sort of similar to spaghetti. But I think the egg smell is too strong, maybe it is because they soft-boiled the egg before pouring the gravy. But, I really enjoyed the bakmi godok which costs only IDR 14,000. Yum yum.

another sushi fiesta

Ichiban Sushi, February 20.
Okay, I think Ichiban Sushi (other than Ta Wan) is one of the restaurants that I frequently visit. This time, I had a lunch with my mom, my sister and my boyfriend. Since I am the kind of person who would not mind repeatedly ordering the same menu every time I go to my favorite restaurant, so as always I order Special O'Day sushi and Ichiban's Salad. There was nothing new with these two menus, other than that the salad was still super fresh (we had our lunch at around 11.45 am. Early lunch, yes?). We also order two fusion sushi and salmon bento. I forget the name of one of the fusion sushi, but it is filled with crispy salmon skin and topped with tobiko (fish roe). The other one is Volcano Roll, sushi filled with kani (crab), omelet and cucumber and topped with tuna floss. Both are served really pretty. I personally prefer the salmon skin sushi than the tuna floss sushi because it has a rich and bold flavor. Meanwhile, the salmon bento set served as a complete meal. It consists of grilled salmon with teriyaki sauce, rice, chicken karaage, rice, salad, cucumber roll, miso soup and watermelon. Even writing those meals makes me hungry. The salmon is really soft and tasty. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photograph of the salmon bento set to show how abundant it was.

favorite number two

A couple of weeks ago, I had a lunch in Takigawa Setiabudi One. It was my first time. I always notice that Takigawa (the one in Pondok Indah Mall) is always packed with people especially on Saturday night. And so is Takigawa in Setiabudi One. When I was having my lunch there, the restaurant was packed with many yuppies trying to enjoy their meals with friends or co-workers. I kinda like the ambience and interior of the restaurant. But, since it was Friday noon, the restaurant was too noisy because you know people just can't simply just eating while having a lunch on Friday noon, right? They were like chattering all the time, including me though. So, I felt a bit uncomfortable giving that the restaurant isn't too spacy.
Anyway, my friend and I ordered three kinds of meal, Sule Maki (small portion consists of 4 pieces of sushi), Wakame Salad, and Fufu Fafa Roll (regular portion consists of 8 pieces of sushi). The first meal that was served by the waitress was Wakame Salad (vegetables and seaweed salad). And I was simply contented when putting the fresh and tasty dressing of the salad into my mouth. I must say it is my number two favorite wakame salad. The difference of Takigawa's wakame salad with that of Sushi Tei's is the dressing. While Sushi Tei uses vinegar (and maybe a bit of soy), Takigawa uses soy and mayonnaise, whereas for the vegetables, the both serve pretty much the sama veggies and off course the wakame. And one more thing why I love Takigawa's wakame salad, it is topped with bonita flakes. Now you get it, right?
The second menu served was Sule Maki (salmon skin, avocado, cucumber topped with crabstick and tobiko in the house's special mayonnaise). The salmon skin is crispy and tasty. The sushi is pretty big. So by the time I ate the second piece  of Sule Maki, I was pretty full already. And then I remembered that we still have Fufu Fafa roll. My friend said that Fufu Fafa Roll is really tasty and her favorite, to which I replied "Whatever you say, I can't eat anymore sushi". Maybe because the restaurant was too packed or there were lack of waitress, the Fufu Fafa Roll
(crabstick & cucumber topped with grilled eel, tobiko flaming salmon & chicken floos) was served 40 minutes after we ordered it, and still felt like don't want to try it even a bit. But then, I was tempted by the tempura crunch topping. I ate the tempura crunch. Tasty. I tried one sushi. Man, it was good. I'm not really into fusion sushi, my favorite sushi is kani/nigiri, but these two fusion sushi I tried in Kanigawa kind of change my preference. So, I am so gonna come back to Takigawa.
